Guide to RGH Outpatient Clinics

The Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) outpatient service accepts referrals for patients requiring specialist consultation for elective and non-emergency treatment as a public or private (PRNI only) patient.

All referrals received for outpatient clinics at RGH are centrally receipted and forwarded to the appropriate specialty team for medical triage and prioritisation.

As the RGH outpatient department experiences a high demand on services, many clinics require patients to be placed on a waiting list, and are seen in order of clinical urgency/priority. This ensures patients are seen in a timely manner and patients within the same urgency category are seen in order of referral date.

Once triaged, the referral will be given a priority and an appointment date and time can be made. Patients may receive notification of appointments by SMS, letter and/or a telephone call.

Appointment information

It is the patient’s responsibility to advise RGH of changes to their contact details and attend their scheduled clinic appointment or to re-schedule with reasonable notice (24-hours).

RGH adheres to a ‘did not attend’ policy, which relates to three consecutive missed appointments.

Every effort will be made to communicate effectively with all patients including those with language, literacy and vision difficulties of advise their scheduled clinic appointment.

  • medicare card
  • any concessions cards - (pension/health care/DVA/PBS safety net/ADF etc.)
