About us

The Department of Anaesthesia provides services for specialties including vascular surgery, the hand service, general surgery and ophthalmology.

Anaesthesia or procedural sedation is increasingly used to enable procedures to be undertaken safely and with minimal discomfort in areas other than the traditional theatre environment. This is particularly important when diagnostic or therapeutic machinery is immobile and located outside theatres or when patient management is best addressed by taking the service to other locations within the hospital.
