These changes are about delivering first-class health care services that meet the needs of the community.

Our aim is to provide you with the most seamless, coordinated care possible.

Services from 2015

Fremantle Hospital will become a 300-bed specialist hospital.

Our services will include:

  • Aged care and rehabilitation services
  • Elective surgery: Inpatients/outpatients; general and specialty surgery, including orthopaedics, eye surgery and vascular
  • Critical care: Intensive care unit (ICU) to support medical and surgical services
  • Medical services: Inpatients/outpatients; general medicine; endocrinology, including diabetes clinics; sexual health; gastroenterology, including endoscopy
  • Mental health: Inpatient and community mental health services for adults and older adults
  • Other inpatient services: Pathology, radiology and pharmacy services.

As a specialist hospital, some key services will transition to other hospitals.

Hyperbaric medicine will transfer to Fiona Stanley Hospital on 17 November 2014.

Paediatric services will transfer to Fiona Stanley Hospital on 1 February 2015.

The Fremantle Hospital Emergency Department will close at 7am on 3 February 2015.

Emergency mental health services will be provided at Fiona Stanley Hospital from 3 February 2015
