In celebration of DonateLife’s Thank You Day, Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) recently unveiled a plaque, declaring RGH as a donation hospital.

RGH Acting Executive Director Kathleen Smith said the hospital was proud to be recognised as the first non-tertiary public hospital in WA to be involved in DonateLife’s organ donation program.

“Having organ retrieval capabilities onsite help make it easier for families to say yes to organ donation,” Mrs Smith said.

“Families can find it difficult during their time of grief to allow their loved one to be transferred to another hospital for the procedure and this helps to remove one obstacle in the process.

“We are proud to be associated with the aims of DonateLife and are grateful to the families whose consent has given others a new chance at life.”

The plaque, first of its kind in WA, is located in the lift foyer on the ground floor between the Friends desk and Day Therapy Unit.
