Rockingham General Hospital staff and volunteers have been working hard to ensure Elanora’s Café and all the vending machines on site comply with the Healthy Options WA Policy (external PDF 131KB).

Recently, Julie Meuleners and Amanda Harris from the Private Patient Liaison team sampled the new healthy burgers from Elanora’s Café and enjoyed them very much.

“The burger was fresh and tasty and included a great range of salads,” said Amanda.

The volunteers at the café are working hard to ensure both tasty and healthy food is available for all staff and visitors and would like to thank all staff for supporting their efforts.

“The menu will change slightly over the coming weeks and months as we make a few tweaks to boost our proportion of ‘Green’ healthy food and drinks” said Auxiliary President Joan Salter.

“We’d like to thank hospital staff for supporting the important and exciting changes,” Joan said.

The Healthy Options WA Policy supports all WA Health hospitals, health services and workplaces to ensure there are nutritious  choices available at all times to support a healthy diet.

A key requirement of the Healthy Options WA Policy is that at least 50 per cent of all food and drink items offered, sold or supplied in a WA Health setting through food outlets, vending machines and catering, must be ‘Green’ food and drinks.  ‘Green’ classified food and drinks are the healthiest choice as they have lots of nutrients and are low in saturated fat, added sugar and salt.
