Residents and visitors of the Peel region are invited to take part in a fantastic calendar of 45 outdoor recreational activities for Outdoors October.

The South Metropolitan Health Promotion Service and Peel Trails Group have collaborated with local organisations to fund and provide the Peel region’s first Outdoors October.

Participants will be able to enjoy walking and paddling activities, themed events, games and fitness activities, festivals and fundraising events.

Community and Population Health Services Health Promotion Coordinator Richard Crane said participating in community outdoor events has extensive benefits for both your physical and mental health.

“An active community with people using their local parks, reserves and outdoor spaces makes for a healthier, safer and better connected community,” Richard said.

The Peel region provides a beautiful backdrop for the month of activities with its range of public outdoor spaces and diverse natural, cultural and historical features.

Most activities are free and provide opportunities for people to try something new and different. There is something for all abilities, ages and fitness levels.

Local clubs, groups and agencies are hosting the activities across Mandurah, Pinjarra, Dwellingup, Jarrahdale, Waroona and Boddington.

For more information and a calendar of events, visit the Peel region section of the Outdoors October website (external site).

Outdoors October is an annual statewide initiative of Outdoors WA to engage people in the benefits of outdoor recreation.
