Thanks to a generous donation of four reclining chairs by the Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) Auxiliary, relatives of palliative care patients now have a comfortable place to rest while they spend their last few days with their loved one.

The soft blue chairs will be wheeled out to wards at RGH as needed, providing a comfortable place for loved ones to be by the side of the patient.

Acute Pain and Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist Sue Thomas said it was so important for the patient and the family to be together in those final days.

“As well as being a comfortable seat during the day, the chair partly reclines so visitors can rest and then fully reclines into a bed so they can stay overnight,” Sue said.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer these chairs to the loved ones of our patients, and thank the Auxiliary immensely for their kind donation.”
