Minister for Health John Day this morning started the celebrations at Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) for its 40th anniversary, ahead of the official anniversary tomorrow.

Minister Day said following significant redevelopment over the last decade RGH has become a more advanced hospital providing wide ranging services to a diverse community.

“During its 40 year history the hospital has undergone significant change from a small community hospital to treble in size and function,” Minister Day said.

“The growth in specialist services shows Rockingham has a thriving hospital that now integrates teaching the next generation of health professionals alongside patient care.”

The Minister acknowledged the staff and volunteers who worked hard to make the hospital an important and appreciated part of the community.

Among the celebrations planned include the planting of a rose garden and a photography competition to provide new artwork for patient and visitor areas.
